24X7 – The NFT Art Series Based on the sport of Basketball

Whether it’s dark out and everyones gone home for dinner except for you, or the winter cold is freezing more than your veins, somebody, somewhere is driving to the hoop, shooting the lights out and putting their team, their city and their family on their back, all for the love of the game and the glory of playing it well.

24×7 is a series of 7 sets of artworks, each capturing 7 separate stories, based around the game of basketball.

Each NFT art piece is limited to 24 copies, and as of this writing, will all be minted on the Polygon network.

Artwork + Utility =

More than just a jpg

As is often the case with NFT art, many collectors want to know “yeah yeah #weliketheart but how about that utility though?”

Although it is not extensive, utility is included:

2 x Animated Artwork

I will airdrop to your wallet, the 2 animated versions of this piece. The first is without the story, and the second is with. Think of it as a single panel, animated comic.

1 x Landscape Version

I will airdrop to your wallet, the landscape version of this piece, within 1 week of your purchase. So you’ll have one to keep, and one to ‘fleep’.

Giving Back

10% of the primary sale and secondary sale commission will go towards the charity of the month, because every little bit counts.

Presale access: BRB PFP collection

When the profile picture collection is ready for sale, you will get VIP access. The artwork in this collection is 👌 and the utility is 🔥

Please note, you will only have access to the utilities, if you still own at least one of the artworks at the time the utility is being handed out.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are new to NFT’s theres likely a lot of questions you want to ask, unfortunately I will not be answering any of those questions lol but you can find answers to those questions on Google.

For every other question about this project including price, rights etc please look below:

How much will it sell for?

Each copy will sell for 0.018 eth + minimal gas fees (thanks to Polygon network), which is roughly the average price for a genesis piece from a relatively unknown artist. I obviously plan on changing the unknown artist part over time, but for now this will be the sale price for the artwork.

Please note you are actually getting 3 copies of the same work, so you’ll have one to keep and two to ‘fleep’, depending on when you sell them. If you have no idea what i’m saying right now regarding the extra copies you you will receive, please scroll up to the blue section where I talk about the utility of the artwork.

As an owner of the artwork, what are my rights to the work?

While you own one of the 24 copies of the artwork you automatically agree to the following.

You have the right to display the work, including producing your own physical copy of the work to put on display, and you also have the right to sell your copy of the art.

Owning the work does not give you permission to reproduce the work multiple times over for resale purposes, but you probably already knew that.

You also have access to the utilities mentioned earlier.

Once you no longer have ownership of the work (including the derivative versions e.g the animated version and the landscape version), you no longer have access to any of the aforementioned rights or privileges.

Yeah nothing crazy, pretty common sense really.

Why only 24 copies per artwork?

I want the artwork to increase in value over time, or in the least, hold its value. One of the ways this can be achieved is by limiting the supply.

I chose the supply limit to be 24 because well if possible, I like things to have multiple reasons.

So for 24, obviously it’s Black Mamba’s jersey number and 24×7 is 24 hours, 7 days a week, and the presale is happening on the 24th. Any other number just didn’t make sense to me, so 24 it is.

Also fun fact about the number 24, here goes –  2+4 = 6, and if you multiply 6  x 6 you get 36. Add those two numbers together and you get 9. Put 6 & 9 together and you get 69, which is the universal symbol of yin and yang. If yin and yang were music artists they would be called the yin yang twins. They once sang a song called get low, everyone loved it. Get low is also essential to proper squat form, which is essential to properly training your legs, and if you don’t have strong legs in old age, the risk of you falling and dying goes up by guess how much, that’s right – 24. Boom! If that’s not a conspiracy theory or numerology at it’s finest, I don’t know what is!

Why mint on Polygon?

Minting on Polygon means the gas fees are considerably lower (almost zero) then what you would pay if the artwork were minted directly to the Ethereum network.

You are still trading, buying and selling with Eth, but thanks to the Polygon network, those trades are now faster and much cheaper.

Nobody likes to pay fees if they can be avoided, minting on Polygon enables me to do that for you. You’re welcome 😊

What is Utility?

Utility is any benefit or feature you have access to, as long as you have ownership of the work. I have listed all the utility you get in the blue section above, the coolest part of the utility is that if you hold the piece long enough, you will get access to 2 more copies of the work (animated and landscape), which you can then flip and make your money back on, or if you time it right, you could make a lot more back.

I have more questions, how can I ask?

Chances are I know you, so just hit me up on FB, IG or Twitter and ask away. If I get asked the same question often enough I will post it back here as an FAQ

About The Artist

Hello my name is Kodi Sketches and when I’m not coaching youth basketball, or working in the tech space as a designer and marketer, I like to spend my time making art.

For one reason or another, I always find myself going back to creating some form of basketball related art. Maybe it has something to do with my love for the game, or maybe it’s because I can’t think of anything better to make art about, but whatever the reason is, here I am, once again making art about basketball.

Like most ballers, I spent most of my youth playing basketball, and since my nephew has picked up the game from the age of 11, I have had the pleasure and the privilege to give back as a youth basketball coach for an under 14s basketball team. In a club that my mum and her close friend started in the 80s, when she decided that putting her son’s name down on the waiting list to get into a basketball team just wasn’t going to cut it – thanks Mum 🙂

So that’s me in a nutshell, I just wanted to show my face and let you know who I am so that you can feel confident about the artist behind the artwork. I’m not creating these NFTs as a quick cash grab, because i’ve been doing art and been around basketball my whole life.

So relax, and enjoy collecting some art, knowing that i’ll still be here for a long time coming.

Details about the first piece in the series

So I’ve made art for all kinds of reasons…

…to make something I thought would look cool, because I was inspired by another artist to try out a new style, or just simply to make ends meet. But the main reason I like to make art, the reason that lights me up the most, is to make art that tells a story, or in the least, communicates some kind of message.

Every piece in the 24X7 series does exactly that, and each of these stories are born from something I have experienced myself to some degree or another.

I will never explicitly say what the message is behind any of these pieces (although it will become pretty apparent once the animated version comes out), but what I will say now about the first artwork in the series, is that it’s a message many basketball players can relate to. Yep that’s all I’m going to say about that unfortunately, the rest you’ll have to figure out on your own – or not. Maybe just buy it because you think it looks cool, or because I made it, both are totally legitimate reasons to buy art 😊

I also want to mention that this first piece in the series has 3 parts to it . The story has a beginning, middle and end. Each piece in the 3 piece set can stand on its own just fine though. There is as much to appreciate in the one piece as there is in the complete set of the first piece.
